A little about family and me

About me...

As a young child I have fond memories of living in Germany on a US Army base with literally hundreds of kids to play with all the time.  Years earlier, my father had met and married my German mother while he was on active duty during the Korean war.  Three kids later, our family returned to the USA and settled in Orlando, Florida where I spent most of my growing up years.  When I was about 11 years old a Sunday School teacher was there at the right time to answer one of life's big questions for me in a simple and clear way.  I then chose to put my trust in Jesus and my faith journey began.  After high school, I attended Auburn University in Alabama.  I absolutely loved my college years where I gained my Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood and Elementary Education.

I then began teaching in Orlando, Florida and would spend my summer breaks volunteering and working with youth in summer programs both in the US and overseas. It was during one of these summers that the course of my life took an unforeseen turn 'down under'....

Meeting Mr Wright

In the summer of 1988, I volunteered with a youth mission organisation,  helping  lead a team of teenagers in a work project overseas.  And guess who was also a leader on that team?  Yes, it was Crocodile Dundee - well actually, it was a handsome young Aussie named Greg Wright.  He was a much more charming version of the Australian icon.   So we became 'pseudo parents' to a team of 29 teens ranging from 13 -19 years old.  After that summer, we realised we were quite fond of each other but living worlds apart would be our challenge.  In those days there was no internet, so we wrote letters and used long distance sparingly as a telephone call could cost upwards of $1.15 per minute!  We married after a number of very long distance ‘dating’ years and began married life together in Brisbane, Australia.

Job change

While teaching in Brisbane, I gained a Master Degree in Education at the University of Queensland and am a published author. However, years ago I 'graduated' into becoming the full time CEO of The Wright Family Group – helping to raise 4 amazing kids. I giggle every time I fill in info forms and they ask for my employment position - and of course, my 'CEO' title is official because it's in print!   For 20 years we have had the privilege of sharing our lives and home with my beautiful in laws.  Our beloved Ma moved on into heaven 10 years ago and Pa has recently joined her (2020). He reached the ripe old age of 98!

Our kids

We have hit a major milestone of having all our children graduated from high school and all University graduates as well.  They are in a wonderful stage of life, coming and going, studying and working, serving and traveling.  Life is full!

We are so blessed that all of our children have chosen to be followers of Jesus and are serving in a number of ministries while they work, study and travel the world.  (3 John 1:4)

My work now

My many years of teaching and volunteer experience has been more than I could have ever dreamed of. God is so good! I love being a Christian Faith Educator teaching hundreds of children every week and on weekends. In 2016 I took on a new hobby as a Youtuber which has expanded into training children’s ministry people all over the world whether through a screen or in person at children’s ministry events. In 2023 I also published my first childrens picture book with another on the way. I feel so privileged to be able to share ideas and support others as they teach the next generation about Jesus.
